Consumer Complaints
Defective products, poor service, refund disputes and consumer forum complaints.
Cheated by a defective product, poor service, a cancelled booking or a refund that never came? Consumer matters belong here. A written complaint or legal notice to the seller costs ₹199–₹999 and is ready in 1–3 working days, and sending it often gets a refund without a case. If not, a complaint on the e-Daakhil consumer portal has modest court fees and typically takes several months to decide. District, State and National forums handle claims by value. Read the guides below, then get your complaint drafted or ask a lawyer free on WhatsApp.

Flight Cancelled or Delayed? Airline Refund Rules, Compensation and AirSewa Complaints
DGCA's rules bind airlines: cancellation without adequate notice means a full refund plus compensation (₹5,000–10,000 by flight length) or an acceptable alternative; long delays trigger meals and hotel accommodation; denied boarding pays up to ₹20,000. Refunds must reach you within 7 days for cards. Complain to the airline, then AirSewa (DGCA's portal), then the consumer commission — where airlines routinely lose refund cases.
Bank Deducted Charges Wrongly? Hidden Fees, Reversals and the RBI Ombudsman
Unexplained "service charges", minimum-balance penalties on wrongly-classified accounts, forced-insurance debits and duplicate fees are recoverable: dispute in writing with the branch/grievance cell, escalate to the bank's internal ombudsman, and after 30 days file free with the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in — which orders reversals and up to ₹1 lakh compensation for deficiency. Banks must publish and follow their schedule of charges.

Defective Product? Your Rights to Replacement, Refund and Compensation
A defective product entitles you to repair, replacement or refund — your election strengthens as the defect proves persistent. The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 added product liability: manufacturers and sellers answer for harm caused by defective goods. Complain in writing within the warranty, escalate via 1915, and file on e-Daakhil within 2 years; commissions can order testing of the product.
Gym or Coaching Centre Refusing a Fee Refund? Your Consumer Rights
Coaching centres and gyms taking lump-sum fees are service providers under consumer law — "no refund under any circumstances" clauses are unfair contract terms the 2019 Act lets commissions strike down. For coaching, UGC/regulator rules and the 2024 coaching guidelines back proportionate refunds on withdrawal. Demand in writing, escalate via 1915, then e-Daakhil — most fee disputes are small-value and cost nothing to file.
Health or Life Insurance Claim Rejected? Ombudsman Route and the Grounds That Fail
Health and life insurance rejections follow a fixed escalation: written complaint to the insurer's grievance cell (15 days), IRDAI's Bima Bharosa portal, then the Insurance Ombudsman — free, within 1 year, for claims up to ₹50 lakh. Key protections: after 8 years of premiums (5 for health per current norms) policies become largely incontestable, and "pre-existing disease" rejections fail without proof of concealment.
Online Seller Not Refunding Your Money? Complaint Ladder from Platform to Consumer Court
When an online seller or marketplace refuses a due refund: exhaust the platform's grievance officer (the E-Commerce Rules give them 48 hours to acknowledge, one month to resolve), call the National Consumer Helpline 1915, then file on e-Daakhil — free for claims up to ₹5 lakh, from your own city. Card/UPI chargebacks through your bank run in parallel.
Warranty Claim Refused? "Physical Damage", Voided Warranties and How to Fight Back
Warranty refusals lean on three scripts — "physical damage", "unauthorised repair voided it", "not covered" — and all three are contestable: the seller must prove the exclusion actually caused the defect, statutory rights against inherent defects survive warranty fine print, and the 2019 Act polices unfair terms. Demand the refusal in writing, escalate via 1915, send the ₹999 notice, then e-Daakhil with lab testing if needed.
