   Disclose FIRs/cases truthfully — suppression is an offence under the Passports Act (Section 12) and grounds for impounding later; disclosure, by contrast, routes you into a manageable process: pending-case applicants can get passports with court permission (a standard application in the pending case; courts grant travel-consistent permissions routinely) under the GSR exception framework, often as short-validity passports.    Track and unstick the file

   mPassport status → station follow-up → PSK/SP escalation.

   Track on passportindia.gov.in/mPassport Seva ("police verification initiated/completed"). Sitting at the station beyond 2–4 weeks: visit politely with your documents (constables juggle piles; presence resolves most), then escalate — grievance on the portal, the RPO's public grievance cell, the district SP's passport cell, and CPGRAMS. States with e-verification (mPassport Police app) move in days; paper states need the follow-up. An RTI asking the file's station-level status is the classic unsticker.

   Adverse reports: contest with paper

   Representation to the RPO; annexures and affidavits cure most.

   Adverse PV ("not residing", "case pending", document doubts) triggers an RPO show-cause/rejection — respond with a written representation + evidence: fresh address proofs and neighbour/landlord affidavits for residence issues; court orders/final reports for case issues (our ₹199 annexure/affidavit service prepares the standard formats).
